Hi guys,
Some time ago I've posted a message here that I got a h2210 board-only
from IpaqRepair.co.uk for getting a bootloader working on it and for
further debugging. See <http://basmevissen.nl/h2210_bootloader.html> for
details.
In the meantime, I've got a Wiggler style JTAG hardware (like
<http://jtag-arm9.sourceforge.net/circuit.txt>) and connected that to
the board using the pinnings from
<http://www.handhelds.org/projects/h2200.html>
I've bridged the battery lid switch and verified that the board is still
working with ActiveSync and the Remote Display utility.
For the JTAG software, first I've used the jtag application (both latest
released and CVS version) from the openwince project at
<http://openwince.sourceforge.net/jtag>
On Windows XP, that jtag application did not work. When looking deeper
into the documentation, I found that one needs to install a driver for
getting direct HW I/O. Maybe that is not done by the Cygwin installation
program. I've to check that. I'm wondering why this is not detailed in
the jtag application documentation on openwince.
On Linux, cable connect works. But the "detect" command returns nothing.
I've verified the SW setup with another Wiggler and an ARM 7 board (old
AEB board).
I also downloaded the OCD Commandor on
<http://www.macraigor.com/ocd_cmd.htm> for Windows. Unfortunately, this
software does not support the PXA255 yet. But using this SW with a
PXA250 setup was able to stop the H2210 from working (the ActiveSync
connect stopped). That was the first sign of some action on the JTAG port...
So I've some questions about the JTAG and the board. I hope someone has
an answer to them. I would be very glad to hear if someone already
succeeded in using a Wiggler with the H2210 or another PXA255.
1) What to do with the Tap Reset? The h2210 seems to pull this one down,
keeping it _active_. I've added a pull-up resistor to rise the level as
the Wiggler board I have can only pull the level active low.
2) What is a proper clock frequency for the JTAG? I've left it at the
(unspecified) default. Changing it with the AEB board stopped "detect"
from working. Curious...
3) Do I need to make additional connections? I've no battery connected
to the board (I don't have a spare) and I'm powering it with a combined
USB/power cable from my favourite supplier :-)
4) Can I leave TDI-asic and TDO-asic floating? I don't see any reason
not to do so, but just checking.
