I hear good things about debian but I have been using Gwynux 3 years or so.
I did use slackware before. Actually the cdrom seems to have held up a
few years.

The purpouse of the cd really, is to avoid installing and to allow
remote access to
a system where you can install completely remotely. I also use it in
situations where I
want linux but can't install it on the target machine.rescue, customer
sites etc.
