Yes I have one of those, not with the same software likley. My internet
server is remote.

Possible, but unlikely, however I do see your point. The inly real
answer here is Backups.
I periodically download all the data and burn it to CDs.

I think its in the gigs, but ?I only am using 512m. Never noticed the
bad stick for 2 years
because linux never used more then 256m only showed up on large compiles
when
the cacheing took it into the second stick.

Not necessairily. You guys should test this but for the most part,
unless you use something
perverse like redhat, I expect the tools to run. ITs all linux really
isn't it. Its jyst convienent
to boot off the cd and run, no installation. I have been doing this for
a while.

True, I struggle with that one every day, however I expect the tools not
to change as often and I
do not suggest putting the source on it. Its a question of balance,
place only that which doesn't cjhhange
as often on cd.

Or local cache. Thats how the server runs

In any case, I am not suggestion this as an ultimate solution, only as
an option perhaps used
in cionjunction with others. I suggest we don't decide on one way and
cast it in concrrete.
Have options, try some things, see what works for you. Personally I like
to do things locally
when I am someplace I have no net access. For example I run an apache
server on my laptop
to test web stuff while I am on the road.

I am going tro look into the uml thing as well, I always like to learn
about new ideas. Currently
I am working on a plan to upgrade my server (kernel and all) remotely,
without loosing it.
Kind of like flashing an h2200.

Gwyneth

BTW I will be away next week (leaving tomorrow) and likely not have net
access at all.
Hope everyone has a Happy holiday and I will be working offline.
