What kernel? BTW, that's quite an old gpe package, isn't it? Did you
build it yourself?

Try removing the "console-=" argument, which will give you more information
on-screen. Since you're redirecting it to the serial port, this is why the
screen remains blank. Without it, you'll at least see the tail end of the
kernel boot log.

BTW, you probably want to remove the "email remains the property of the
Australian Defence Organisation" on messages you send to public lists.
