Re: problem h1940 sd ext2 partition

Some of us have had problems with certain SD cards on the 1940
since the upstream kernel 2.6.19 change to support highspeed SD
mode. I posted a patch a while back on this list that avoids the
highspeed mode switch, which has worked for those of us with the
problem. But even with it, occasionally I get a failure in the initial
SD card probe, and I have to reboot. Some cards fail more than
others, as well, depending on what clock rates they support.

Since FAT has a much simpler layout from EXT2, perhaps you're
having SD card read problems that only crop up with EXT2. Are
there any errors in the syslog (run "dmesg" or use the "System Info"
applet) after booting and/or inserting the card? If so, you'll probably
need a patched kernel. Another possibility is that the filesystem has
an error of some kind, have you tried running fsck -yf on it, on another
system?
