When you booted the console-only initrd, there are two ways to login:
over a serial infrared connection, and using ssh over the USB network.
The latter one is for most people the best way, but it might be a bit
difficult to set it up. You can use
http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/UsbNet
as a guide for that.
To run a graphical system (Opie is broken, use GPE), you must have either
an SD or MMC card, or run it on NFS over USB. The latter is just bad, as it
also needs your ipaq to be plugged in constantly. So you should go buy
an SD card.
Installing in the ROM memory is not possible. We can write the ROM of
the ipaq,
preferably with one of the jffs filesystems, but we have no way to boot
it since
there is no bootloader support (yet).
Good luck, and have fun!
