HaRET is indeed the only way to boot Linux on the h1930/h1940 at the moment,
as there is no native bootloader available yet. And because of that, we
don't have
suspend/resume functionality at the moment. :(
If the latest HaRET doesn't work for you, use my 0.3.6 version, which
works perfectly
on my h1940: http://anymore.nl/ipaq/haret-0.3.6.exe
