To answer your question about aquadran's work. I can vouch for the bootsrap
version because that's all I've been working on. The OPIE and GPE versions
of it I have not tried since I have no MMC card to untar the root filesystem
on.
Right now, the way I have been booting up linux, has not had any permanent
effects on my ipaq. All it does is re-write RAM, so as soon as you do a
hard-reset (power+reset buttons at same time), it loads WINCE back up from
ROM and makes your ipaq look as if it had just come out of the box. So,
obviously, only do this if you have backed up all your files before
attempting this. I think with a proper HOW-TO, anyone can get to where I'm
at (I can boot 2.6 kernel on my 1910). And no, I have not blown up my ipaq.
About how linux is while running on a 1910: I think at the current state, it
is very limited if you don't have an MMC card to use for storage. The
aquadran files are for 2.4 kernel, so, they are not the newest kernel.
Hope this helps,

Subject: [H1900-port] curious
ok i connect my ipaq through the usb (dont know any other way 'sides
bluetooth which isnt included). i have visited
http://handhelds.org/~joshua/index.php?path=aquadran%2Fopie/ and was
just wondering if this stuff works, if there is a newer index that i
have not found. Also, seeing as boot blaster does not work with the
1910, is there another way to back up/restore windows 2002?
Furthermore, i am not sure how to install linux to the 1910 because of
its different configuration than ipaqs that are currently fully
supported, or which program to load linux with (boot blaster, LAB,
etc) or to use familiar or not...Finally i am curious if in the
current state, linux is too unstable to put on a 1910 for a kid who
doesnt have the cash to blow on a new pda if this one gets fried?
Thanks for your time....dont feel like you have to answer all of these
questions if you dont want to.
Nick
