When you do a hard reset, it should erase all your files that you had
previously synced onto your ipaq, making it look as if it just came out of
the box.

 

I'm at the same stage you're in. I can boot up the ipaq into linux, using
the shell initrd, but with me, it boots up fine, and it even initiates de
IrDA interface. but since USB is broken in the current kernel that we're
using (2.4), we can't ssh to it from the USB cable... we would have to use
IrDA to communicate with the ipaq.. And unless you have IrDA on your
computer at home, you're out of luck.
