gpe application's not displaying text

hi,

I did
git clone http://familiar.handhelds.org/git/familiar-build.git,
using bitbake I listed the dependencies that would be compiled for gpe
applications like
gpe-filemanager, gpe-buttonbox etc.

I compiled them, while running, some application's are giving an error dialog,
but the font is not visible at all. So I am no able to read it. If I
run gpe-calulator I can see the application, it is behaving to event's
like button click etc,
but here too the fonts are not visible.

I ensured that pango-querymodules is run, and pango.modules is good.
It's having the path correct and the files are there.

Could some one please provide me hints where things are going wrong for me.
