If you are currently running osloader (I hope you are following the instructions at ftp://handhelds.org/pub/linux/compaq/ipaq/v0.20/install.html) you have to reboot before you can protect the flash as the pflash command in osloader does not work. The instructions direct you to reboot. If you have just uploaded bootloader 2.14.8 feel free to check the protection but it should be automatic. If you loaded 2.14.5, you can protect the flash after rebooting. Use the little button on the bottom to reset.
