I have been trying to get my ppp connection working and
just found out by logging in to the console as ppp that
the ppp modules were not loaded. Odd since I have been
connecting with ppp for about 2 weeks now. I had just
loaded the mmenu package to fix a landscape rotation
problem with gtk-menu using ipkg install mmenu. This uses
the ppp connection to download the packages from handhelds.org.
After I re-booted the ppp connection would no longer work.
Anyway, in trouble shooting I logged in through hyperterminal
(yuck, but I can't get minicom to connect for some reason) as
ppp, there was a message about ppp modules not being loaded
and to run modprobe -v ppp. I did that and the ppp connection
came right up. I guess I need to add ppp to the list of modules
loaded at boot time. I don't know why it has been working for
a couple of weeks and many re-boots to test various things.
