Power Management

I have been using a 2.4.3-rmk2-np1-fam2 build of the kernel, I think (can't
verify the fam version), for donkey's ages. It seems to have the same X
screen-saver timeout issues, which look like they're more an X problem, but
it does power saving *extremely* well, so far as I can tell.

My iPAQ 3600 will happily sit on a shelf in sleep mode for several days (at
least three or four) after a full recarge, and will then claim to be at
around 60-80% of full charge when I get back from wherever I've been and
start using it again. It used to die after 12 hours back in the days when
deep sleep didn't exist, just screen blanking.

I don't use the X screen saver, and I usually only use expansion sleeves
when I'm in the lab and the unit is near its cradle, ready to be charged.
Perhaps this makes a big difference?
