I think Alex found the right answer...
Once you have IP connectivity over PPP (you can test with ping),
you need to start a ssh from the host to the iPaq.

I found out the hard way that:
sshd is not running by default.
you need to generate host key (if you start sshd it will tell you).
it is easyer if you have the same name on both the host and the iPaq (like
root)

Actually I found out that with only one of those key it is already working.

I found the following command to be helpfull for testing ssh and sshd:
ssh 127.0.0.1 on the host (to test your client)
ssh 127.0.0.1 on the ipaq (to test the server)

(see

I am still stuck and need some help.
1) I never manage to make ppp connectivity with my Win2K... any succes?
So I choose to install a Suse 7.1 on another PC and use proxyarp for
worldwide connectiviy.

2) I still have the problem of DNS resolution...
I used "usepeerdns" but it is not helping.
So currently I ping from the host, get the ip address and put it inside
/etc/hosts
BUT I AM LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION.
help please.

PS: The major issue for installing familiar (from a dummy point of view) is
that the documentation,
however present, is distributed all over the place with no big picture of
what will be done,
what should be done, what wil you need. Like:
1) Backup your WinCE
2) Install the bootstrap
3) Install the basic filesystem
4) Setup SSH (generate key, start the deamon)
5) Setup IP connectivity (ppp or ethernet or wireless)
6) Run ipkg ... ipkg ... and ipkg ....
7) Run the postinstall script.
8) Reboot the iPaq.
9) Click on a button and enjoy.

Another problem I still have is: What package should I install?
I choosed bash (a must) ae (I have iv) and task-???
