Hi,
The problem is, how do I download the ipk package file into the ipaq in the
first place?

Tcpip connection is the option I know of now. For tcpip, I must either use
ppp to a host pc and use ipmasquerading, or use wireless lan. Since I
mentioned that I did not have wireless lan (actually I do have but the lan
is very unreliable at the moment), I need to use ppp.

However, I have only installed task-bootstrap without: X windows, ftp,
xvkbd. To setup the ppp connection, I must sacrifice the minicom serial
console output which enables me to type commands at the ipaq shell. So,
that's the problem.

Do you get the picture or are you more confused now?

So, maybe to simplify things, "is there anyway apart from using tcpip to
transfer things in and out of the ipaq?" My thought is using the rsync
program provided but rsync requires rsh which is not available.
