Nevermind! I am stupid.
I was stopping and restarting cardmgr. When I restarted it gave me a file
not found error on ide-info. I just assumed that meant things were not
working when in fact I can mount the drive without problem.
Thanks for the help.... now on to other problems...

In what way doesn't your microdrive work?
As long as you have a filesystem on there, it should work out-the-box. I've
never needed ide-info to get mine working...
