/Dev/LDR ??

In the Ipaq there is mention of a light dependent resistor (LDR)
to sense the Ambient light on the front of the Ipaq
and adjust the screen brightness accordingly
( there is an auto check box in wince )
is this taken care of in the kernel
or is it Implemented in Hardware ???
