tmpfs only uses as much space as it needs. There is a way to configure the maximum -- it sounds like 8MB is too big for the H3100.
According to Documentation/filesystems/tmpfs.txt, you can pass options at mount time to configure size. size=4m would limit it to 4MB. You can add this to /etc/fstab.
