since there is no passwd program, you must edit /etc/passwd by hand.
you could create a new account with a password of your choice on
your desktop machine and copy the resulting hash from
desktop:/etc/passwd to ipaq:/etc/passwd.
haven't done this on an ipaq yet, but it works fine on other linux
machines.
