There are multiple ways, either use:
- free (if installed, prints you two lines of memory info)
- cat /proc/meminfo (always works, lots of info, interesting is MemFree,
  Buffers and Cached)
- top (if installed, interactive view of running programs and memory.
  I did not test it, but it's probably quite unuseable on the serial
  console)
