If you just want a JRE then you only need to install 'tvt-kaffe-ipaq'.
(and 'tvt-fgl-fonts' if you want to use the AWT).

The JRE is about 3Mb ATM. This is because the current ipkg contains the
entire class library as well as a fully featured kaffe. As time goes on
(and as we get requests) both kaffe and the classes will to stripped
down significantly.

If you want the whole pocketlinux framework use 'task-pocketlinux'.
The install all kinds of extras including and mpeg2 movie so you will
can't install much more than task-bootstrap.
