hello everyone !
i'm also having problems setting up an usb network connection.
i did:
rmmod everything usb-related on both machines.
took the ipaq out of the cradle.

done. (using 2.4.5-ac12, which comes with usbnet.c)

done.
now i use usbview on my desktop machine. all i see is the usb root
hub.
no further devices. ifconfig -a does not show an usb net device.
unfortunately, i have no other usb devices to test the desktop usb
stuff.
but the modules loaded ok:
desktop# lsmod
Module Size Used by
usbnet 11152 0 (unused)
tdfx 61936 1
hid 18480 0 (unused)
input 3872 0 [hid]
usb-uhci 25952 0 (unused)
usbcore 54064 1 [usbnet hid usb-uhci]
8139too 16528 1 (autoclean)
on the ipaq, i have:
ipaq# lsmod
usb-eth
sa1100-usb
...
on the ipaq, i don't see a /proc/bus/usb directory, but i assume
this is because it's a "slave" usb stub only. what do i need to to
to verify the ipaq is set up correctly ?
here's my desktop root hub:
desktop# cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2
B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00
S: Product=USB UHCI Root Hub
S: SerialNumber=b400
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms
as you can see, no devices are detected. i know this is probably not
ipaq related, so sorry for being off-topic. i just thought somebody
around here might know what to do.
all the best,
jörn
