Installation on H3360 and Emulator questions

Hi!
I plan to upgrade an IPAQ H3360 to Linux in a few days. The
documentation got me a little confused...

I know some years ago in the mailing lists it was mentioned you would
specifically need a serial cable or cradle, a usb connection won't work.

I only have access to a USB cable and I couldn't yet find a serial cable
online that is compatible (at least not by searching for the model
name).

Also the installation instructions say you only need a CF card, or some
way of bringing the files to the IPAQ. What is correct then?

I'd rather buy a CF Card (have to have one anyway) than buy a serial
cable...

The other question is about Emulators. I think I'd want to test a few
things on an emulator first before putting it on my IPAQ, also I don't
have the slightest clue where to find software other than gpe and
opie... There's some ipkg repos mentioned, but that's rather thin....

Thanks for your help,
Andreas
