What's wrong with scp? I use a nice gui scp client WinSCP and can edit

Uhh, we're talking about familiar here, right? Not windoze. Have
you
tried using scp with familiar? ??? No, I didn't think so. Have you used
lftp with linux? ???? 8-) Or even sftp??? No, I didn't think so.
Since the thread was started asking about clients and servers I
thought we might be talking about both. Yes , WinSCP is a windows
scp client that works very, very well with familiar's built in scp
server. Was this to be limited to talking about using familiar
clients talking to familiar servers? What's the point?
You might re-read what I posted, since the answer to your
question was included. I will re-emphasize it. I have used WinSCP to
move files and directories to an ipaq with familiar on it. It is the
only interface I use with the ipaq. In addition, the built in editor
is very useful. It works nice for editing files in place. For
example, the data acquisition software I've written is in python and
I edit the file in a nice GUI in XP. Hit cntr-s (or whatever) from
WinSCP and it's saved on the ipaq. The ajax web page that works with
the acquired data, served by Boa, is also edited in place on the ipaq.
This project is currently running on an ipaq and a Gumstix
You can get a look at the gumstix server here: http://
cobblies.blogdns.net:8080/ , provided it's not too late or too early.
This is an energy monitoring server for an off-grid solar home and
machine shop. I don't leave the wimax modem and router on much past
midnight EST USA(there's no sun) so you will not see anything if it's
too late unless I'm still up and computing.
Your post was kind of mean. What's up with that? I HAVE heard
ftp is obsolete and I asked if it was so. Criticisms of FTP
failings are abundant.
