Perhaps you could provide a little more detail? I don't understand. The beginning of the Familiar instructions notes (in the Please Note: section) that the instructions assume that some version of the CRL bootloader is already installed and directs you to the current CRL bootloader instructions to install one if that is not the case. Those instructions currently direct you to install version 2.14.8 using osloader. Steps 15 and 16 of the CRL bootloader instructions direct your to reset the iPAQ after having flashed the new bootloader and spot checking it per Step 14 then after resetting checking to see that the bootloader is protected. Was it here in step 16 of the CRL bootloader installation instructions that you had the problem?
After this you are directed back to the Familiar installation instructions which follow with instructions on how to install version 2.14.5 of the CRL bootloader if you do not have that version or a more recent one. Of course, if you recently used these instructions you should at this point have bootloader 2.14.8 installed and so this section of the Familiar installation instructions should be skipped and you should go on to setting the bootloader parameters. My point here is that you should be skipping any mention of installing or protecting the bootloader in these instructions because you have already done that.
