Familiar started outside of Compaq: A7r et. al. are not Compaq employees.
We (Compaq) threw our lot in with them when it became clear that was
"the right thing to do".

In any case, this is open source: bugs found and fixed on other PDA's would
benefit us too; it isn't for us to say, one way or the other where it goes.

So you won't see us flinch if you (or others) port it where you will.
We certainly won't spend our time working on other people's device drivers,
unless we happen to use the same devices....

I certainly fixed bugs on Sun's and IBM boxes when I was working on X in the '80's.
Why would I stop now?
