PC card networking with fixed IPs

I am trying to network my iPaq through the company network using a CF
ethernet card, but the network uses fixed IPs. I was able to network using
DHCP at home so I know that works. I know there is a way to make my Linux
box some kind of host.

Can someone either tell me how to do it or direct me to a place where there
are instructions? I checked Handhelds.org and the Wiki site but didn't see
any clear cut directions on how to do this.
