Familiar has adopted the Debian menu system. Please see the following
documentation for what you need to do:

Basically each package wanting a menu entry provides a file in
/usr/lib/menu/<package name> and also runs update-menus in the
postinst script. See the above URL for more details.

There has not yet been discussion within Familiar regarding the
Preferred Menu Structure. Feel free to propose some changes if you
think that Debian's preferred structure should perhaps be adapted for
handheld computers.
