Thanks, now I have configured the familiar distribution to use the old
Xfree.
Now the Blackdown port works for the biggest part:

I can start my Java application, buttons work,
but I can not enter text, neither with scribble nor with the
virtual keyboard (works fine for non-java apps).
I could not find out what the problem is: Xfree with twm ? Blackdown
port ? Any thoughts ?
