I did this on the the ipaq over ppp/serialcable but could be done anywhere on
the net

 mount /dev/hd??? /md
 cd /md
 wget -O - http://..debian-base.2. 2.tgz | tar xfz -

I got this far, next step would be to setup the debian packet management to
work on a shadow system and to fill in all the rest - working on that -is
that easy ?
