I just had a GPS card available. Sorry, I forgot the brand name :-(
The card was a compact flash one. Once you installed it, you had one
serial port more in your system. Opening that port you got every once
in a while a line with your position, satellites in sight and so on.
The gpsd (GPS Daemon) worked out of the box with that card.
It was all extremely straightforward, a real plug-and-play.
