Jan,
1. Try ping from your iPAQ to your nameserver
2. (if possible) try ping from your nameserver to your iPAQ
3-a. If the both are okay, tap lines on your host machine
to see what's happening.
3-b. If one or both get failed, please make a double-check on
your PPP host. It is likely your host act as another firewall.
I don't have experience on that (I hooked it up on the ethernet
at the very first time) so this is just a guess...
