Thanks for the quick reply. I forgot some details in my explanations !

It is not my firewall as a ping to the outside ip number works fine. It
is just that if I
ping the machine by name the iPAQ does not go to my DNS server to get
the IP.

HUM, sorry about this, just found my error ! The DNS does not give me
access to the standard nicknames I have on the server. The fully
qualified host name works ver well from the iPAQ !

Sorry for this stupid mistake.
