RE: getting the kernel to work

The bootloader should be ready in time for the next Familiar release. We
have an in-house version now (2.15) that works just fine booting the kernel
image out the JFFS2 file system. It should be out for general use in a week
or two. Meanwhile, please be patient. The bootloader is the one part of
Linux-on-iPAQ that can potentially turn your expensive little computer into
a paperweight. We'd like to make sure that it is as bullet-proof as
possible before turning it loose on the world.

My impression is that work is being done to eliminate the need to partition
flash, by adding the ability to read JFFS2 images to the boot loader. This
will allow the boot loader to read vmlinuz out of the JFFS2 image, just as
LILO does on x86 installations.

It's not clear to me if this work will be completed by the time of Familiar
0.5's release; there was some hint of that, however.
