I'm skeptical about streaming installations...

I like it to be probable that either the machine ends up in the previous
state, or in the installed state, but not any intermediate state, which would
happen in the case of connection failures in the middle of transfers.

The way things occur right now, your unit remains usable in the face
of failure, a major feature...
