My impression is that work is being done to eliminate the need to partition
flash, by adding the ability to read JFFS2 images to the boot loader. This
will allow the boot loader to read vmlinuz out of the JFFS2 image, just as
LILO does on x86 installations.

It's not clear to me if this work will be completed by the time of Familiar
0.5's release; there was some hint of that, however.
