getting the kernel to work

I've got a zImage-2.4.7-rmk3-np1-devfs-hh2 file from
ftp://lorien.handhelds.org/pub/linux/feeds/demo.

Unfortunately I was not able to get this running ...

The flashipaq utility complains that this kernel is too big. Surely I
can change that limit in flashipaq's source (it's limited to 524288 but
the zImage is 595604 bytes). That doesn't work either, probably because
now I overflow the kernel partition. So how do I have to modify the
partition on the bootloader? Has anybody a working set for the
partition?

(So sad that I have to use partitions on my precious flash space.
Partitions always waste some size ...)
