Alas, no -- all I can do is reassure you that you're not crazy. I have the
same problem. The Stowaway daemon and driver appear to be a bit fragile, and
function correctly only under *exactly* the right set of circumstances. Once
those circumstances obtain, however, they work marvelously :-)
I've been wanting to do some digging and see if I can fix this myself, but
spare time is a nonexistent commodity right now...
