Open Motif Available for Familiar

Hi,

We've ported the Open Motif GUI toolkit to Familiar.

The downloads are in ipk format and we have included both Motif and Xt.
We've done some initial work on reducing the footprint of both libraries.
The Motif equivalent of "Hello World" (i.e., a pushbutton with a label) is
under 3k bytes and the total size of the Motif and Xt shared libraries are
less than 1.8mb.

Specifically, the following have been removed from Open Motif:
- Widgets/Gadgets: Container, Notebook, Icon
- Functions: GrabShell, Text Properties, Xm String Segmentation, New
Translation functions
- Obsolete Functions: See contents of files Obso1_2, ObsoStr, ObsoXme,
Obso2_0.

The software is released under the Open Group Public License. This is
essentially the IBM Public License open source license (lgpl + patent
issues) with the additional restriction that Open Motif can only be built on
"open source" systems. Under this license, there are no runtime or
development fees. Also no requirement that proprietary source also be open
sourced.

We have also initiated a project for an Open Motif based PDA environment.
Codenamed "Usable", its project page is at:
http://www.motifzone.net/useable/ We are releasing this software under the
GPL.
