connect a serial modem

Hello,

I'd like to know if there is a way to use a serial modem with the iPAQ.
What I want to do is directly connect the modem on the serial port of
the iPAQ.

I think I have to update the cable (from a null modem cable to a
standard serial cable) and then use a dialer from the familiar (like
wvdial).

If someone has an experience about it, could he tell me ?
