If you want something like emacs, consider jed. You can install it on a
your desktop machine first to try it out (there are binaries for popular
operating systems, and one for Windows too). If you want to try it on a
familiar installation, you can use the .ipk I just made:

(I had to type that by hand, if I made a mistake try it up to the
~komarek, and follow your nose).
Note that familiar 0.4 won't have all the requisite libraries installed,
but I think the stable familiar feed as all of the libraries available for
installation.
