AFAIK familiar distribution is aimed to fit into the 16M flash, i dont
think you can squeeze the compiler environment into that, nor would
emacs fit.

http://intimate.handhelds.org/ is the starting point to look if you want
a full blown system, microdrive HDD or NFS mount required.
