ext2 is the way to go if you want the unixfs features.
Both ext3 and reiserfs need too much space for the journal (8+MB and
32MB).
If you don't need unix' fs features, go for fat. the logic in the cf
cards is/should be optimized for a long livetime with FAT.

JFFS would work with the MTD over blockdevice emmulation.
