I have still two questions considering memory usage in IPaq.
If I do not have any applications running (except x) and give command "df"
I will see following
/dev/mtdblock/3 15360 13736 1624 90% /
ramfs 15464 260 15204 2% /mnt/ramfs
In addition, the "System Resource Tool" informes that the current
memory usage is about 20 %.
If I understand correctly, this mean that I have
- 1.6 MB of memory for storage purposes
- 15.2 MB of memory free for running applications
If I now start Blackdown JDK 1.3.1RC1 and one very memory intensive Java
application (I have installed both to NFS-drive) and give again command
"df", I will see the same results
than earlier
/dev/mtdblock/3 15360 13736 1624 90% /
ramfs 15464 260 15204 2% /mnt/ramfs
Now the memory usage in the "System Resource Tool" will start rising
until it reaches 100% and the Java-program will die...
What is the memory the Java program is using? Is it in
- /
- /mnt/ramfs?
If I upgrade the memory from my IPaq to 64 MB, will I get more memory for
running my applications, or will I only get more storage space for them?
