I'm using a Compaq WL110 and a WL310 Wireless gateway. Both work with
the Windows software supplied.
On the Ipaq I did the following like Jamey suggested:
HJ> Add the following lines to the bottom of /etc/pcmcia/config and restart
HJ> cardmgr:
HJ> card "Compaq WL110 PC Card"
HJ> manfid 0x0156, 0x0002
HJ> bind "wvlan_cs"
and restarted the pcmcia module.
The card does not seem to get an IP addres. In network.opts the PUMP
variable is set to 'Y'.
I also edited the wireless.opts file in /etc/pcmcia and added a key
and essid.
iwconfig returns the following:
# iwconfig eth0
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-4
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-5
eth0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"2D1A63" Nickname:"familiar"

(I edited the value of the key in this output! :-)
While the pcmcia package is probably still waiting to get an answer to
a DHCP request ifconfig returns:
# ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:A5:6F:20:2B

Is there something wrong with the mode (Ad-Hoc only seems to wake up
the pcmcia card) and the combination with the WL310?

Melle Sprenger
