Announcing: Pocket Tcl Environment (PTE) v0.1.0 (alpha)
What is "Pocket Tcl" ?
"Pocket Tcl" aims to be a complete application environment for handheld
devices running the GNU/Linux operating system. It's a long way from
that goal, but here is a start. The project is still in alpha, so some
of the applications are very flaky.
Currently, the project consists of the following applications:
PT/Navigator - file browser and program launcher
PT/Network Browser - web browser
PT/Edit - text editor
PT/Backlight - LCD brightness application
PT/Clock - desktop clock
PT/Ifconfig - network interface manager
PT/Info - system information
PT/Mixer - sound mixer
PT/Play - MP3 player (frontend to madplay)
PT/Proc - process and /proc viewer/manager
PT/Sketch - sketch pad +
PT/Xauth - xauth access control manager
PT/Xhost - xhost manager
PT/Xset - X user settings
plus several others.
Other programs to follow at a later date include: PT/Contacts (an
address book
using the standard vCard format), PT/Mail (an email client supporting
smtp, pop3 and ,hopefully, imap protocols), PT/Map (a mapping program,
using downloadable maps, route planning, and hopefully - when I get one
- GPS support), PT/Tasks (a tasks/to-do application) and PT/Calendar
(schduling application) both using the standard vCalendar format,
PT/Notes (desktop notes in the style of Post-its), and many others. The
list goes on ...

Coments, questions, suggestions always welcome.
