You should compile your own kernel. 2.4.7-ac8 was the first that worked
for me, but I think later ac versions are somewhat more stable. I
currently use 2.4.8-ac4.

BTW, usbnet rocks! It is fast, it is easy. Plug and Play. Only flaw is
that I sometimes have to restart usbnet on the ipaq side after suspend.
