Configure IPAQ after 2.4.6 update.

I have installed the updateed kernel 2.4.6 as described in the

Now I can login with minicom ,but only have Tux after it boots.

How do I go about executing an ipkg update and a ppp connection. I
cannot set a default route and setup the ppp as I only have one input
via the serial connection. There is no way to do anything on the ipaq
itself.

I can run the ssh key generator, but then how do I run sshd as it
requirs a key from the host and I cannot upload anything?
