well I've recently released 0.1 of 'jabberpy' a Python Jabber lib.
Get it from http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/jabberpy. It does most
standard Jabber protocol stuff ( messages, presences iqs, roster etc )
and some of the sexier stuff - zerok authentication.
The whole idea of writing the library was for an Ipaq pygtk client,
which there is ( VERY ALPHA!) in above sourceforge cvs - _not_
the downloadable tarball. The main problems with the client are pygtk
battles ( getting a color'd tab like xchat is the main one ) so Id
really appreciate some help on this if any ones interested and wants
to contribute get in touch ...
