Best way to use a microdrive with familiar

[Posted to the correct mailing list this time... :)]

I have familiar 0.4 up and running with a 2.4.6 kernel. The dual-sleeve
is working. I have a microdrive in one of the slots.

I'm rapidly running out of on-board flash memory (I have 16MB). I'd like to
continue
to install packages, but onto the microdrive and not into flash.

Is there a clean way of using the microdrive instead of flash from now on?
If so, what is the current best practice of which files/directories go
there, and the best place and time to mount it in the booting process?

Thanks in advance.
